My mind’s been racing lately. I feel like there’s so much I want to do, but so little time to do it. I want to have kids, get married, start a business (multiple businesses to be honest), spend time with friends and family, play tennis for hours on end, and put hundreds of hours into the newest game that’s become Kacey and I’s obsession, Baldur’s Gate 3.
Taking a deep breath, I realize there’s truly only one thing that I want and that’s to just be with you.
Being present and in the moment with you is, hands down, the purest form of happiness a guy could ask for. Our talks that go down the wildest black holes, cooking with you, and watching you light up as you reenact a story in a hilarious dramatized fashion are some of the few, but many, things I absolutely love about you.
I’ve never been with someone where I wanted to be with them every second of the day. I don’t know, I just am at peace when you’re around. For the first time in my life, I should add.
It was your 37th birthday on Monday the 21st. I don’t know about you, but you seem to be aging backward, truly. A case of Benjamin Button, perhaps? Here I am aging like milk, while you’re aging like a fine wine. I count my lucky stars that you’re not lactose intolerant, otherwise, I’d be poured down the drain and kicked to the curb!
For your birthday, we spent the day playing tennis, consuming our weight in ribeyes, inhaling cool whip out of the can, and digging up our new fireplace that almost lit the neighbor’s yard on fire. Minus the small pyro moment, that was a perfect day with you.
But so is every day. When we’re spending time together, every day honestly feels like it’s our birthday. We get to do whatever we want, damn near whenever we want, together. I treasure that about us.
That’s another thing I love about you is your love and admiration for the little things in life. Everything adds up in your eyes. It’s a beautiful trait but rare trait in a relationship that takes couples the extra mile. I’m so grateful that we both share that.
Gratitude. When it comes to you, I’m eternally grateful that my addiction to nachos fajitas with steak had us cross paths. And Match.com for enabling a mild stalker mode.
If not for those two secret ingredients, who knows if we’d be on this adventure in life together. What an adventure it’s been so far. Of course, I can’t wait for many more to come.
Happy birthday, Kacey. Cheers to every birthday that we get to spend together for the rest of our lives. I’m truly a lucky guy.
With all my heart,
Love, Tyler <3
